Living out the Text: Sharing the gospel
After Jesus' resurrection, he tells the disciples that he is sending them out just as God had sent him (John 20:21). We have inherited Jesus' mission to sharing the gospel, the good news about him, with the rest of the world. In this passage, Paul is talking about the lengths he is willing to go to share the gospel. He says that he is willing to become like a Jew, like someone under the law, like someone outside the law, like someone who is weak, or like anyone else, if it gives him a change to win them to Jesus. He was willing to try to related to anyone if it would give him the chance to tell them about Jesus.
What are we willing to do to share Jesus? Are we willing to step out of our comfort zone the way Paul was? Are we will to to reach out and try to connect with people who are not like us? We have inherited Jesus' mission to share the gospel. Paul was willing to do whatever it takes to move that mission forward. What are we willing to do? Are we willing to take up that mission? Are we willing to reach outside of ourselves, outside of our comfort zone to share the gospel? Are we willing to follow the example of Paul?
