Exploring the Text: A living hope
Have you ever wondered if Christianity is the right religion? After all, don't people from other religions think that their faith is the correct one? Some would say that all paths lead to heaven; however a close look at scripture shows that this view is incorrect. Paul says that “there is only one mediator between God and man” (1 Timothy 2:5). That mediator is Jesus. I am firmly convinced that Christianity is the “right” faith. However, we need to realize that religion, on its own, does nothing for us. The only way to heaven is mapped out in a true relationship with Jesus.
You may ask how I am so sure of my conviction. The answer to all of this is wrapped up in verse three of this passage. It says that we have a living hope because of the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but the miracle associated with His death is the resurrection. In that time, many were crucified. There were even two others crucified next to Jesus on that day. However, none of them were resurrected. Nor has any other god (leader) of other faiths, ever resurrected.
Please don’t mistake my affection for the cross. Jesus sacrificed his life for us, and endured a horrible death. He was completely innocent. All of this is very important, however it would have been in vain had Jesus not completed His mission.
The resurrection of Jesus, proves that He is truly the Son of God. Only through Christ can we have eternal life. Because of His resurrection, we can be rest assured that there is eternal life, and help in this life. For this simple reason, I am assured that a relationship with Jesus is the “right “choice.
How about you today? Do you have hope? Have you experienced God’s mercy? If not, make the right choice today. I guarantee that you will not regret it!!
