Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
As Peter is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the Gentiles in the house of Cornelius, the Holy Spirit fell on those who were listening to him. The other Jewish Christians who were there with Peter were astonished. They immediately recognized that the Gentiles has been filled with the Spirit. probably because they were speaking in tongues. This was an amazing thing for them. They did not imagine that God would accept the Gentiles as Gentiles without them becoming Jews, yet here it was. The baptism in the Holy Spirit was a sure sign of God's acceptance of them.
There are many things that the Holy Spirit does in our lives. He helps us (John 14:16), empowers us (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11), teaches and reminds us about Jesus (John 14:26), grows Godly fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-23), and gives us assurance of our place with God (Ephesians 1:13-14). An active experience with the Holy Spirit is a central part of our relationship with God and something that everyone should seek after. That is what this breath prayer is about.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, fall on me.
