Spiritual Practices: Visio Divina
Visio Divina, or sacred seeing, is a type of prayer in which we allow our hearts and imaginations to enter into an image or a scene in silence to see what God might have to say to us. You can find out more about Visio Divina here. Spend some time prayerfully reflecting on the images below and listen to what God might say to you through them.

Exploring the Text: Hovering over the waters
The Bible opens with this picture of the Spirit of God hovering over the face of the waters. The earth is in chaos and unable to support any kind of life. It is this environment that the Spirit of God is hovering over before God speaks and begins bringing order and life out of chaos and destruction.
There are times that our lives feel chaotic, out of control, and lifeless. Just like the Spirit of God hovered over the lifeless earth, the Spirit of God also hovers over our lives. We may feel that we are too far gone or that God has abandoned us, but that is never the case. God does not abandon us in our chaos and lifelessness. Instead, he hovers over our lives and, if we let him, begins to speak into them and bring order and life out of our chaos and death..
