Spiritual Practices: Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina, or Diving Reading, is a method of reading, reflecting on, and praying the Scripture that has been used by the church for centuries. It focuses on communing with God in Scripture rather than simply studying Scripture for intellectual understanding. Click here for more information on how to practice Lectio Divina. Here are some suggested verses in this passage that may lend themselves to conversation with God through the practice of Lectio Divina.

But the Lord said to me,
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,

Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
God told Jeremiah that he had a plan and purpose for him since before he was born. Jeremiah immediately objects, he doesn’t feel qualified or capable of what God has asked him to do. God’s response to Jeremiah is that he will be with him and will put his words in Jeremiah’s mouth.
Just as God had a plan and a purpose for Jeremiah, he has a plan and a purpose for each of us. Just as Jeremiah felt unqualified and incapable, we often feel unqualified or incapable. God promised Jeremiah that he would be with him in all that he asked in to do. We have the same promise. When Jesus commissioned his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20, he promised that he would be with us always. We need not be concerned about our ability to do what God asks of us because we know that Jesus is always with us.
God had a plan and purpose for Jeremiah. He has a plan and purpose for you as well. Just as God showed Jeremiah his purpose for Jeremiah’s life, we need God to show us his purpose for our life. That is what this breath prayer is about.
Prayer
Abba Father, show me your plan and purpose for my life.
