Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
In this passage, God has Jeremiah go to the potter's house to uses the potter as an illustration. While God's message ultimately has to do with judgment and repentance, there is another side to the illustration as well. In verse 4, Jeremiah watches the potter work on a project. It didn't turn out the way that he wanted it to, so he remakes it into something else that he wanted. There are a couple of key things to notice here. The first is that even if we don't turn out right the first time, even if we do make mistakes or screw things up, that doesn't mean that God is is done with us. God can remake us into something new. The second thing to notice is that the potter reworked the project into something that was pleasing to him. He made something that was good, useful, and beautiful. God can do the same thing with us. He can make us into something that is good, useful, and beautiful. That is the focus of this breath prayer.
Prayer
Abba Father, make me into something pleasing to you.
