Living Out the Text - Sent by Jesus
When Jesus appears to the disciples, he tells that that he is sending them into the world the same way that the Father had sent him. In Luke 4, Jesus said that he was sent to proclaim good news to the poor, set the captives free, bring sight to the blind, deliver those who are oppressed, and to declare God's favor. When Jesus says that he is sending us out the same way he was sent out, the means that we are to do the same things and for the same reasons. As Jesus revealed God to the world, so we are to reveal God to the world. Jesus' mission didn't end with him, it continues through us. What he started, we need to continue. How are you continuing the mission of God? How are you going where Jesus has sent you?
