Questions for discussion and reflection
- Why do you think the people responded the way they did to the man's changed life?
- Because the crowd asked Jesus to leave, the man was the only one whose life was changed. What does it say to us that Jesus was willing to make this whole trip for only one person?
- Jesus tells the man who had been delivered to go and tell other people what God had done for him. What has God done for you that you can tell other people about?
- This was the first time Jesus was in this region. The next time he came to the same region is recorded in Mark 7:31-8:10. This time, rather than asking Jesus to leave, they are bringing people to him to heal and crowds are gathering around him. How much of this different response to Jesus do you think can be attributed to this man telling his story? What does this say about the importance of just one person?
