Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
After fielding several questions with ulterior motives, Jesus finally gets a legitimate question from someone who really wants to know what Jesus thinks. The lawyer simply asks what the most important commandment is. There is no subtext, non subterfuge, no hidden agendas, simply a desire to know what Jesus thinks. Jesus answers with the same sincerity. He tells the lawyer that the greatest commandment is to love God and the second is to love people. Everything in the Law and the Prophets, the entire Old Testament, hangs on these two things. If you get these right, Jesus says, everything else will fall into place. This breath prayer is about getting these two things right.
