Living Out the Text: Live ready
Matthew 24 starts with Jesus talking about the destruction of the temple and the end times. He gives some things to watch for, but he also makes it very clear that no one can know for sure when he is coming back. This is the point. We cannot know for sure so we must live our lives in eager anticipation of his return. In these verses he tells us that his coming will be like the coming of the flood. Everyone was going about their business until the flood came and they were not prepared. In the same way, people will be working, playing, and going about their business, and no one will see him coming.
It is in this context that Jesus tells us to be ready. We should be waiting with anticipation for the second coming of Jesus. We should face the world with the hope of his coming. We should live our lives in such a way that we would not be embarrassed if he came back at any moment.
Jesus tells us to be ready for his coming. What needs to change in your life for you to be ready?
