Bible Study: Compare and Contrast
Four times in this passage, Jesus says that we have heard one thing but he says something else. In each of these cases, Jesus changes the focus from external behaviors to internal motivations. As you study through this passage, notice how Jesus contrasts what they have heard before with what he is teaching now. Make notes on the differences between what Jesus' followers have heard and what he is telling them now. Note the difference in emphasis and then reflect on what Jesus might say to you about each of these topics.
