Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
In this psalm, the writer reflects and meditates on the glory of God revealed in creation. It is very easy for us to get caught up in the activity and chaos of the world around us and miss the glory of God. Sometimes we need to be reminded to lift our eyes up from our frustrations, confusions, and distresses and to focus on God's glory that transcends our temporary problems. That is what this breath prayer is about.
Prayer
Almighty God, let me see your glory

Spiritual Practices: Searching out God's glory
Overview
I'm sure one of the reasons that the author of this psalm was able to meditate on God's glory was because he made the time to get away and meditate on God. It is hard to give focused thought and attention to God, or anything else for that matter, when we are constantly surrounded by distractions demanding our immediate attention. If we really want to experience God, if we really want to connect with him, if we really want to see his glory and get caught up in awe and wonder the way the author of this psalm did, sometimes we need to get away from distractions, both internal and external, and turn our thoughts towards him alone.
Practice
Some time this week, make some time to get away from distractions and focus on God. Find a place outside where you can experience nature. Leave the cell phone behind or silence it so that you will not be disturbed by it. Spend enough time to allow your heart and mind to settle down from stresses and anxieties of life. Drink in the sights and sounds of the world around you. Reflect on the wonder of creation and the marvel of the God behind it all. Don't hurry; your life will still be there when you get back to it. Take the time to restore your soul in the presence of God.
