Praise the Lord!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord,
or declare all his praise?
Blessed are they who observe justice,
who do righteousness at all times!

Spiritual Practices: Breath Prayer
Overview
This is a song of corporate confession. The author, and those who would sing it, identifies with those who sinned in the wilderness. In verse 6, the author says that "both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness." Confession is something that we don't practice very often. We don't always like to look at our lives and admit where we have failed and what we have done wrong. The author of this psalm understood the power of confession, though. When we confess, when we admit where and how we have failed, we open those doors for God to step into those areas with his mercy and grace. That is why the author of this psalm can confidently declare that the Lord is good and his steadfast love endures forever in verse 1. We don't have to fear opening up our failures and weaknesses to God because we can trust him with our hearts. That is what this breath prayer is about.
Prayer
Abba Father, I confess my sins to you.
