Lectio Divina, or Diving Reading, is a method of reading, reflecting on, and praying the Scripture that has been used by the church for centuries. It focuses on communing with God in Scripture rather than simply studying Scripture for intellectual understanding. Click here for more information on how to practice Lectio Divina. Suggested Verses
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.

Exploring the Text: God has you surrounded
Have you ever watched the president of the United States travel anywhere? No matter whether it's across the building, or around the world, he is always surrounded by a barrage of security personnel. This may seem a bit intrusive, but actually, it is for his protection. They are not there to be in the way, but rather to watch over him in all situations. His safety and security are their number one priority. People are out to get him and it is their job to not let it happen.
You may not realize it, but the devil and his demons are out to get your very soul. Your spiritual safety is at risk. The Bible says that Satan walks around, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). You need a team of security personnel to protect you at all costs.
The good news is that you have a Secret Service crew, just as the president does. The Lord has you surrounded. There are angels that fight spiritual battles on your behalf all the time. The Lord has “got your back”. There is not a moment that the Lord is not watching over you. He is not there to hinder you, but rather to guide you into the truth. He is there to love, protect, and fight for you.
What are you afraid of today? Are you dealing with something that is bigger than you? Perhaps you are struggling with someone; some people can be a real “thorn in the flesh”. Realize that God is there with you. “He will not leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Turn your worries over to God. He is there to fight your battles on your behalf.
