Spiritual Practices: Star gazing
Overview
I imagine David being inspired to write this psalm as he lay on a grassy hillside in the country around Bethlehem while watching his father's sheep. I imagine him looking up to the sky, bring caught up in the wonder of it, and his thoughts drifting to its creator. Albert Einstein once said, "The more I study science, the more I believe in God." I imagine David felt the same way as he watched the sun, clouds, moon, and stars overhead.
Practice
One evening this week, make some time to go star gazing. Find a place where you can get away from as much light pollution as possible, get comfortable, and watch the stars come out. As you enjoy the wonder of the night sky, remember David's words in this psalm and reflect on the wonder and glory of God.
